YES THE BLOG IS LEAVING!
The new blog - Subliminal Beats
New name yes. Because I don't want to remember my annoyances with this host. Just joking. I just felt this sounded nice and I am an impulsive person. I was originally going to a goo blog but the 10,000 character limit meant I couldn't post lengthy essay type things - and I'm not willing to change. So livedoor will do for now. Except livedoor is awesome. Everyone should just move there now XD
[summary] Interview with Chris Peppler (Ryo-Z & Pes) aka Ryo-z is a big weirdo.
Since I'm afraid my translation errors may jade or just fuck up the information: here's some small points raised in the interview:
- Chris thinks Pes has gotten quite "gentlemanly" and cool. An example is the tie he wore to the interview. Ryo-Z thinks it's manly too heh
- For New Year, they spent it with Hotei at his house (this was raised on Music Station as well). They got treated to shabu shabu. Pes says the house was like a rock star's while Ryo-Z says it was the house of success.
- Though they were Boowy fans (who wasn't?), when they were big Pes & Ryo-Z were still pretty much primary school kids and they were mainly just inspirations.
- Ilmari has attended one Boowy concert "LAST GIGS". Fumiya on the other hand used to be a huge Hotei freak. (they mention it in several interviews. Ryo-Z in one remarks that they sent a photo of Hotei playing the guitar to Fumiya).
- Since the song "Hot Chocolate" was slowly developed over time - something they say because of their attitude of "My Pace" - the timing of it being a Valentine's Day single was purely coincidental.
- People say it's very "Pes" - they talk a bit about making the song etc. The absence of Fumiya meant that Pes learnt a lot. As well Pes remarks that he's usually lazy when Fumiya's around and dumps everything on him. Pes wrote some tracks for the Masterpiece album so Ryo-Z has a lot of faith in him.
- New Years resolutions: Ryo-Z wants to have more work with Rip Slyme since the fact that Teriyaki Boyz ended sort of depressed him. Ilmari has an easy answer "Sleep lots, eat lots, work lots" and Su as well goes "No change". Pes has no answer so they beat around the bush - including Pes saying that he wants to join Teriyaki Boyz - they settle on enjoying turning 30 (he's 29 and will be 30 at the end of December). They as well remark on the maturity of Pes.
- When was the last time you cried? Ryo-Z takes the spotlight on this one. He says he always drinks alcohol at night and watches a movie and eventually cries. He reccomends the Korean film "Last Present". He says he even cried aloud at the actor and his sick girlfriend. They all agree that Korean movies are really good at making you cry.
- What do you really want to do now? Pes says he wants to go surfing with the shortboard. They talk a bit about surfing and Pes' hobbies with snowboarding and whatnot. They end up talking about Chris Peppler's involvement with the Rakuen Baby song on Orchestra + Plus album where Ryo-Z was really like a director.
- People you like - your recent obsessions? Last time they said it was Kumada Youko.
Ryo-Z: (laugh) Now, it's Teppei
Chris: MTV's?
Ryo-Z: Nah WaT's
Chris: WaT's? Ah.............. OK OK.
Ryo-Z: It just seems I've probably become obsessed with Teppei.
Chris: What sort of things?
Ryo-Z: On Music Station - that crying feeling? It's like you just can't sing those words, it's really fresh.
Pes comments that it's quite rare to see this sort of "vigor".

Bape corner.... Teriyaki Boyz!
I must remind you that Rip Slyme has been winning every Hip Hop video award before this since 2001 except for 2004 where they were pushed aside for Rhymester. It almost seems obligatory that they get an award.

According to the report, they performed four songs: The Takeover, Heartbreaker, Celebrity Death Match & Kamikaze 108. That's quite a nice lineup in my opinion. To me, those songs were the ones that did somewhat show the potential of the group.
And well there has been some comment about Ryo-Z's flaming pink shirt. I don't think he has an explanation for that either.

Hey Brother Tracklisting!
1.Hey,Brother (RIP SLYME)
2.Hey,Brother (佐々木蔵之介、塚地武雅によるポエトリーリーティング) (Poetry Reading from Sasaki Kuranosuke, Tsukaji Muga)
3.Hey,Brother (クラシカル [classical] ver.)
4.間宮兄弟のテーマ (大島ミチル) Mamiya Kyoudai Theme (Ooshima Michiru)
Seems like it's pretty much like the Orchestra + PLUS CD they released long ago. It's got a poetry reading and orchestral arrangement. I really wonder if Fumiya's in this work. I mean it sounds like it since he helped head the orchestra plus game. But it could still not have him. This anticipation is killing me. But the poetry reading will feature two big names Sasaki Kuranosuke & Tsukaji Muga. They're both drama actors though I'm not quite familiar with them. I suspect they're the lead actors of the movie. While the theme is written by Ooshima Michiru. I believe he's a big name composer. The guy who does game and anime stuff too or something. I'm a bit hazy with it but my googling has given me as such. However here is the current tracklist. The single is already open for order from hmv.co.jp. I want to wait and see what it's like but something is telling me that there aren't any fans that will source it.
Fumiya was trying to tell us something... How Halcali is Fumiya's journal.
Anyhow let me start today's post with the words Fumiya told the crowd on the last day of the Masterpiece tour. These words got me really thinking. Not just about Fumiya's attitude overall but as well the time placement of his wedding.
「去年の秋に結婚しました。
相手は・・・普通の人です。これからもこれからもいい曲を変わらず作って行くので応援よろしくお願いします。」
(Roughly: I got married last year in autumn. My partner is... an ordinary person. From now on, if the tunes I make change please cheer me on.)
So he registered the marriage on the 28th of 2004. But his marriage was in 2003 Autumn, around September to November. Actually I'd like to talk a bit of how he described his wife. A regular person. I mean he should be saying how great his wife is. The fact that he says that really puts some people in awe. Maybe he's expressing how he's like his wife to be normal. But he's as well making the fans think "He married someone regular... Just like us?"
Or something like that. I dunno. Anyhow here's my main feature: Halcali's tunes could represent Fumiya. Well it is pretty much Fumiya's stuff. It's HIS music that he makes. But his comment with the music changing makes me think maybe he was afraid it had already happened. And Halcali's lyrics (the Ryo-Z ones) are very stylised. They represent the style of the girls initially, Ryo-Z seems to be pretty good at that. But they at times reflect Ryo-Z. I mean I remember thinking "Woah this is like if Ryo-Z were a girl."
Fumiya's a genious with music. Not just Rip Slyme & Halcali stuff. If you ever listen to a tune like R.E.M. from the Five album, you get a gist of what is Fumiya. The album overall was very experimental but it really shows how much Fumiya's creative juices can flow. It's a great ambient piece. I almost thought that I was listening to the regular radio. I mean this is the stuff that people weep after. Now if Fumiya got married, he'd be pretty stoked. And the rest of the RS crew would probably be encouraging him.
So let's pull in the Gold Disk winning tune Strawberry Chips (2003.11.26). My theory is that Ryo-Z wanted to shape Fumiya's thoughts (the song is most likely made just before he's about to get married.). I mean out of most songs, this is probably the most direct words I've heard from Ryo-Z. Ryo-Z likes to beat around the bush, bring in a clever play on words or two. But love? This bittersweet love song just sounds beautiful coming from the Halcali girls.

Oh single jingle playin... damn
This is broken, that things got this way
There. Fustration of sorts. And later in the song is:
before my very eyes, this love is victorious
several days since we ran into each other
Well doesn't that seem so dramatic? So novel? I mean Ryo-Z's lyrics are usually a lot more light hearted and leave the listener to make up their own version of the true message of the song. Hell I like him just for making an Amelie reference (in Marching March). But the lyrics of Strawberry Chips are so... sharp. The words don't let you adapt it to anything. It's there. A love song. And one of the greatest love songs. Maybe next to One. Or Hot Chocolate. Screw you- Hot Chocolate's a love song. They even say so!
But Strawberry Chips is quite an interesting song. I mean Ryo-Z's shown that he's more than able to write love song lyrics with his expert style. He's refined the ideas and given what is some words that should be sold to Koda Kumi. The concept of sweet & sour strawberry chips, cream and whatnot.
It's a very subdued song in terms of its structure and whatnot. But maybe while Fumiya made a love filled tune, Ryo-Z gave his lyrics in what is a celebratory congratulations. Everyone seems to be giving Fumiya and his wife the best of luck.
That wraps up this week... Unless I decide to post again tomorrow. Nonetheless my current thoughts are on what to expect of the upcoming Teribari DVD...

Halcali's Electric Sensei vs... Love Machine!? (er... Stepper's Delight)
My random hope is that Ryo-Z could marry one of the girls to cement the future of Halcali & OTF. But I think that's a stretch. And it's not that I think Ryo-Z's really marriage material - just that that sort of theory sounds too fangirl minded for me to swallow.
Now I wanted to take my sweet time in this. And well I had been thinking of it for quite a while. Firstly I have uploaded two Rip Slyme vobs on jpopsuki here, as well a thread that is inviting people who would like me to share more of my Rip Slyme loot. But I wonder if the Halcali girls grew up with the Morning Musume group? Well they could in a way, but only as a childhood memory. Actually, it's more likely that the OTF guys were around then. In fact, Rip Slyme made their major release in 2001 while the Golden Era of Morning Musume started around 2000. It'd be funny to see if Ryo-Z or Fumiya had an interest in the group at all. If that were true I wonder which member they both liked best? Better, they should be in some scandal with them. That would be amusing yet a little sad. All I know is that Ryo-Z wants to give valentines chocolates to Koike Teppei and Fumiya is still keeling over in pain over whatever god forsaken sickness he still has. (it's all an excuse for him to take a long honeymoon - I know it)
Well we all know about the orange jumpsuits, and whatnot. I want to pull out the little things that they had made an effort to imitate. I'll point out some obvious, but that's only because it's a simple given. Plus I had to watch the two PVs like a bitch. I had to stop in the middle of one and go realise that I left one thing out. Nonetheless, as an homage to Rip Slyme's first ever PV - it provides what is an excellent opening for the girls to strut their stuff. In a way Rip Slyme are more comfortable in their PVs and concerts, they don't need routines are dances to dominate what they do. Rather, it'd probably restrict them. In Halcali's Electric Sensei, they show their wacky dances and bounce lines off each other in a certain Halcali style. The Rip Slyme guys have been in the music industry for 6 years at that point. Now it's 12. An amazing effort in my opinion. I would probably love to own one of their indie analogs. Though unlike the recent movie that won the Oscar for their theme song, I doubt they ever had to sleep around to get their gigs. Or I'd be extremely jealous. Really.
#1 A certain animal: Crabs vs Dog
It was two little crabs for Halcali, representing the girls possibly. But I just don't get the dog. Maybe that's Su's dog. I have no flying idea why it's there in the first place. But it seems to be the first point of comparison.
#2 Shuffling feet? Dancing feet?
This is probably the first thing I remember that was similiar. Stepper's Delight - oh now I get it. Stepper's Delight was the first Japanese rap song I ever experience that swore and flew right over my radar. Yes Pes uses that naughty S word. But they - unlike the way some artists wear the gimmick like a shield - do it simple. Plus in a way it's even in context!

#3 Cartoon representations: Who the feck is Runrun? vs Tensai Bakabon!
I admit it - I've never seen Tensai Bakabon, but their "Inspired" artwork appeals to me a lot. Halcali follows it a little in the same simplistic style but their representations are what can I say? Prettier. In a way I love the way Rip Slyme would like to have such dorky looking characters as their mascots. Everyone knows if this were some other artist, they'd get some image like the backdrop manga images they had for Shuji to Akira. And the way they happily place the credits willingly seems like such a great thing nowadays (yes Halcali and their 2nd album cover scandal is something taboo now.).
#4 Yukari vs Ilmari
Okay I really just wanted to write that. But they mirror the shots in the PV. Sure that's obvious. But the way it's done is quite interesting. I mean this one is a dead giveaway. But some that I mention later didn't hit me till the 3rd viewing (yeah I didn't get sick of the songs even then.)

#5 OTF vs RSM
This didn't hit me till the second viewing. I went "I wonder what RSM stands for..." before I realised "I wonder what Halcali has on their table". An OTF plug but who cares? The word OTF will never really make any sense to any casual fan of Halcali. But OTF are the brains behind Halcali. And though I hold Halcali in the highest regard, they're not making Rip Slyme sales (sure Hot Chocolate sold the worst for Rip Slyme but it hit Oricon Charts). It is practically because of OTF that the girls get a Music Station shot. (Rip Slyme are with Tanabe Agency. Tanabe Agency has Tamori. Though they need to retire that dumbass [sorry.]. And DJ Non is Pes' pal.) Sure they have the Gold Disc to wave but millions of artists have faded in the background with awards too. Besides, OTF doesn't seem to stake any claim like that anymore. Anyhow back to the PV, if anyone is wondering what RSM stands for - it's the catalogue letters they use for their merchandise. Each items is RSMxxx - a deal they have with groovisions (their main and probably only promotion manager). I'd assume RSM is Rip Slyme Merchandise (which would fit with the PV too) but I could be wrong.

#6 The still ball vs the bouncing ball.
I could say it's a reference to the momentum of Halcali then. They were barely starting girls then. Rip Slyme had already developed a small fanbase already. Maybe it's just a random thing. I don't know. Again the OTF & RSM logo. Different lighting too.
#7 The mad dash
I remember during the filming of their Tasogare Surround PV where in order to make the "one take" concept work, the guys had to run like hell. They had to be far enough as to not shadow any of the lighting too. And in a way it was amusing to watch Fumiya, the usually bored looking guy, run in frenzy with his headphones and a rather nice suit. Electric Sensei is pretty much a song about... love in a way. The way the girls approach the PV with such enthusiasm mirror their words in the song. I never noticed at first but in both songs there is a reference to Moonwalking and footwork. And they're both Ryo-Z's words!
#8 Bored Halcali vs Bored Rip Slyme
I like the way it was laid out. Halcali puts their hands on their hips while the RS guys like to do the whole arms folded thing. And it's placed at that bit before the song really kicks off. I guess Electric Sensei's song structure is very much like Stepper's Delight. But I have to say that the Halcali girls are cute. Apart form their dancing and whatnot, they were chosen for their looks.
They're just so compatible.

#9 The leap
The Halcali girls do somewhat of a jump where they wave their arms. It's cute. I mean this is the way Halcali mirrors the PV but still maintains their own spirit in it. It's a play jump, they acknowledge each other and they don't seem serious about it. It's just a small part of mirroring the PV. But it's fun to watch this against the Pes & Su one. Pes is short as hell. He's probably as tall as the Halcali girls - and maybe shorter. So the way he jumps is... cute. He spins with his arm outstretched, almost as he's trying to grab air but not quite. Whereas Su's form seems much more steady. He's good at this stuff duh.
#10 Haruka vs Fumiya
Actually it's the vinyl bat thing I wanted to talk about. That is what's cute as hell. I mean it's so smart and small. I mean DJ - vinyl - omg! I guess this is the ode to Fumiya. It's strange, Halcali manage to talk about Ryo-Z since writes their lyrics... But I don't hear them talk about Fumiya. (By the way I was right about Fumiya being the DJ for SPEED's tour at a young age. He did
it when he was 17. NOT BAD HUH? Though it's probably because of his connections). Fumiya, everywhere is a silent figure. And he draws people in with that. Okay I better shut up before I start writing a poem about his greatness. Nonetheless I remember in the Rip Style book, they give some photos of his (former) apartment. And boy it is a mess. But it looks really nice. Almost like a little sort of messy studio of his. But of course most of the recording stuff is done in studios, but that's his personal workspace. Almost fills you with awe.
#11 How do you girls play Table Tennis?
The shots with the Rip Slyme guys are always fast paced. They're smacking the ping pong balls fast. And they do some interesting things sometimes. Pes accidently throws his bat and Su serves from the ball in his mouth. The Halcali girls do little unpracticed hits, they're not completely sure of what they're doing. And somewhat when Pes sorts of does it, he makes me think of the girls. Unlike Stepper's Delight, there aren't as many table tennis shots like this of the girls - they've got their little catchy dance moves. I swear when I first saw Halcali's R, I had to go try it myself. Yes I'm a dork.
#12 Ow.
When I first saw Pes do it, I had to sort of move my head around and see if he was in any way hurting himself. But in a way when they both execute this, they do it in a similiar style. With their 100% effort. Well if Electric Sensei had one of the Halcali girls shaving their heads... it'd be a very different PV.
#13 The bat swipe.
Cute! It was more obvious in the Halcali PV since in the Stepper's Delight PV it was less than a second. I guess Haruka could be a certain kind of Ryo-Z in her mature personality with siliness mixed in. But it really made me go "The hell?". I mean Ryo-Z/Haruka just find a bat in their pocket and take a swipe. You just dont do stuff like that anymore.
#14 DJ wha? vs DJ Fumiya
I had noted in my last entry how Fumiya really lacked personality in Stepper's Delight. Hell my favourite Fumiya shot in the Stepper's Delight PV is the one on the Good Job! DVD - and it's not even in the regular PV. How ironic that a weird inflatible thing gets to DJ the girls. Fumiya could've reprised in the PV but that's possibly too overbearing for the girls. I mean he's meant to be the shadow guy. Plushe gets sick easily.
#15 DJ Solo (Like a Drum Solo but cooler)
The Halcali girls play with the DJ equipment. Fumiya doing his thing is somewhat fun to watch though. He does his work so effortlessly you sometimes wonder if for him it's not exciting. I remember in the behind the scenes for Tasogare Surround, Ryo-Z does a Fumiya impersonation on the turntables. DJ Ryo-Z is an entertaining thought. But my favourite one is the Okinawa concert where the guys all decide to sing Rakuen Baby instead randomly change the roles. So instead of Fumiya doing the scratch, Su gave it a shot. And he was almost okay until he somewhat buggered it up.
#16 The full shot.
I love this shot in both PVs, they're almost getting ready for battle in a way. Plus I wonder if any of the guys play table tennis. I used to play it in school - sure I was no good at it but I tried my best. And Table Tennis is quite a sociable sport, unlike Tennis where you have to shout to each other. And well either way you eventually get bored and end up sitting on the side and talking.
#17 Don't drop it! - The bat spin.
Halcali deliberately drops it. I just know it. Ryo-Z (I think it's his hand) spins it expertly. Actually that makes me think of the Teriyaki Boyz Heartbreaker PV where Ryo-Z spins his drumsticks in a slow and sad manner but he just oozes with an uncool coolness. I mean Ryo-Z shimmying in front of a hot white chick = priceless.
#18 Walk to the mic slowly... And turn.
What happens is that they approach the mic in a cautious manner. And the left (Haruka/Su) does a twirl and keeps walking. While Yukari & Pes get it and twirls as well. It's not that obvious in this shot but it sort of does the job. I love that singular mic. I mean it's almost like there's always a camera there and if one member thinks no one's watching, they'll do something really dorky. Those sort of funny home videos stuff. In fact that's how I see Rip Slyme as - the group but with the funny bits only. I mean their PV doesn't get repetitive and you have to keep your eyes open if you want to catch everything. It's the sort of PV I want to download so I know what the group is like. I hate how lazy some PVs are nowadays with the sort of "artsy" angle where they just repeat the artist looking far off for 3 minutes.
#19 They cannot be members of Rip Slyme.
I don't think the girls can ever match Ryo-Z's shot. It's funny and disturbing. Whereas the Halcali members do a little kendo thing. And this is another Rip Slyme reference (I could be wrong but I think I'm onto something.) For the first tour they did in Budokan (Tokyo Classic Tour), the second night they did a little skit. They all came in with kendo equipment on (so you weren't really sure who was what) and they did a mock match. Pes, Su & Fumiya sort of stabbed each other playfully. But the main action was around woith Ryo-Z & Ilmari. Ilmari went "to hell with that" and threw away his sword and started tackling Ryo-Z. Ryo-Z, obviously caught off guard played around. Eventually Ilmari got his sword back and swung down on Ryo-Z (the same way the Halcali girls do) and Ryo-Z catches it in his arms as well. And eventually Ryo-Z gets killed and does a mock death. But the main point is, it could be commemorating their first Budokan live. But Ryo-Z says he hated the way the sound was in Budokan (and I can see why). I mean the sound echoes around and it's not really the same sharp sound you get from their open air lives. Sure they have to turn the volume higher but it definitely sounds better. Nonetheless Rip Slyme issued 50,000 limited edition CDs bearing their OTF logo which was a live recording of their Budokan live. I would kill to have it (or get an mp3 rip of it.)
I was one short of 20 comparisons. But the Love machine reference can be my 20th. B'sides I'm tired already.
And if anyone has the September 2nd 2005 Music performance of Rip Slyme - it'd be awesome. That's the one where they perform Under The Sun for their album.Tuesday, March 14, 2006
It's my DJ Fu~chan! The ode to our favourite DJ on his birthday.

There. I did the obligatory fan photoshop card. But doesn't he look so lonely there? ;o;
All Rip Slyme fans (and possibly Halcali fans) are exploding today. Fumiya is 27 years old today. He shares the same birthday as Ilmari's nephew (happy birthday too kid) and remarks that maybe boys born on this day are destined to be DJs. It's funny how far away he is from that age of 30 - while Ilmari & Ryo-Z have already celebrated theirs. Yes Fumiya is still young. hip, and awesome. And he and Ilmari could have a showdown on who looks even more bored in their performances.
I did a little reading on Fumiya, though I did quit and skip some parts that were deemed tricky. But his life is interesting. Damn interesting. He only joined Rip Slyme when he was around 18. But he started his DJ job in 16 when his brother bought him some samplers. That must mean that he only started DJing then and already landed the Speed job in the span of two years. Well it did help that his brother was a backup dancer of East End and he got to be the disciple of DJ Yoggy of East End. But Fumiya shines a certain brilliance that you don't get anywhere else. His great sense of music and he knows how to use his resources - he doesn't waste it and make half assed tunes to fill bsides. He actually didn't enjoy being the DJ for SPEED and thought he wasn't very good at it. But he was passionate enough to go on. Su even remarks that Fumiya was already such a mature kid by then.
So here is my little love for Fumiya. Creepy but gets the job done. And the Stepper's Delight comparison is going to be done later. I might do it today. Who knows. It's an excuse to pour over my DVDs again really. I actually had over 30 screenshots of Fumiya. But I decided to cut it to one per PV. I don't want to be excessive.

Fumiya looks a bit lost in Stepper's Delight. Though what I love about Fumiya in this is that when he plays table tennis, his bat is done with his vinyls. It's original, funny and he's not that bad at it. He definitely oozes with little personality. He looks boring and easily overlooked. Hell he looks like misc DJ who is added into the Jpop PVs to make the party look rad. But god Fumiya, do I love you now.

Okay when I said Fumiya was hip, I didn't mean fashion wise. Actually he makes some terrible choices in life. Just like this one. The hat needs to go. But it's sad that Fumiya tends to have a multitude of these. Though there are some beanies that looks okay on him, the floppy hat is just so... daggy. I mean did he give up learning how to dress so he could DJ? I hope not. I love this shot in Zatsunen Entertainment. It just focuses on him as he does his swish DJ tricks. And sometimes he looks up to acknowledge the camera. There's two times where he licks his lips (I caught it but it doesn't really show up there) in a snake like way. And it almost looks quite evil.

Maybe he thought people liked the hat. If I were his wife, I'd probably take all those hats and burn them in a bonfire. Don't worry, I exchanged sexual favours so he wouldn't be too sad. One is a very contemplative PV. And it almost seems alright that he doesn't have any shots completely of him (there is one but it's not much). He's got such a sweet face for this stuff.

I call this the ultimate "poor Fumiya" PV. There's even a moment where they push him around so hard that the camera shakes. At least this time the hat is decent. When the guys take off their jumpsuits, Fumiya has the most boring costume underneath. I mean Su looks like a gangster, Pes is covered with bling. And Fumiya? He looks like a hotel clerk. He just wears a regular suit. Though it's funny how I liked that effect when he wore it for the Masterpiece Tour.

I had so much trouble deciding which one from this PV I was to use. I settled on this one. Why? Because I love Fumiya's glare in this. Sure the shot's not too clear. But it's almost as if he's glaring at Ilmari going "the hell." Again, I did say I would love to see a showdown between these guys on who looks more stoned. But I think sometimes Fumiya wins by miles. Fumiya as well does his own percussion for his music. I guess he's naturally good with it what with his DJ work.

Again I chose this picture for his expression. I mean since this guy seems to never have an expression I found it quite necessary to highlight things such as this. I love the little race of the guys. It's so cliche yet seems to amount to fun in Rip Slyme. It's almost cute the way Pes slips and falls down. But Fumiya as he seems super eager to beat Ilmari. shows us the wildest he'll ever get.

I love the concept of the turntables in the PV. He flips the wooden boards over and bam. Vinyls and a turntable. I mean it was originally a rotating platform for the sushi. And he pulls open some cupboard doors and there's some speakers. Swish huh? Nonetheless I have to say it's quite amusing how Fumiya looks the part in this PV as the Sushi guy. I mean it must have been his second career if he never got the DJ gig. I'd go to his restaurant everyday.

Dandelion is probably one of my favourites. Hell I'd say it could be my favourite. It follows the story of one girl, mad at her father - decides to take a walk from home to find herself. The father is torn, trying to see what he did wrong. Whereas the girl, as she witnesses other people around her in this world, realises the foolishness of her contempt and decides that it wasn't so bad after all. I love the portrayal of the people. I mean Ilmari & Pes are those guys who give out free tissues advertising a business and while the girl walks right past them without looking at them, Ilmari shoves some tissues right in the hood of her coat. Su is the guy who draws a little lion face on balloons that decorate the sign advertising a new apartment. And the girl catches one stray balloon. Ryo-Z plays the strange guy in a glitzy tracksuit as he tries to out-powerwalk an old couple - much to the amusement of the girl as she watches from behind.
Oh and Fumiya. His appearance is quite interesting. He's a postman, he even has the dorky helmet that goes with it. But he decides to stop for a break while working. And well - if anyone wanted to know why Fumiya got really sick it was probably the smoking. I mean if you're really sick, I'd hate to worsen the pain by smoking. But apart from that, it switches from scenes of the girl skipping rocks and Fumiya skipping rocks. Fumiya's not that bad at it either. But it's such a simple action, something you do to pass time. And in the PV it adds such a nice impact.

Wow. Fumiya in a vest looks kinda old. But cool. He almost looks like a middle aged man there. But here is the 2004 Fumiya in all his glory. Maybe it was that vest that got him really sick. Who knows? All I know is that it really has to go eventually. The PV is quite cute - finger puppets wooing one woman. But finger puppet Fumiya has no activity in that. He looks bored and sings along in the chorus with bored "yeah. yeah. yeah."

And to my last shot of this, Tasogare Surround. I like to call this the stylish Fumiya PV. Maybe his fiancee started to do something about it. He has great hair too. I mean it's all sort of mullet-ish but cool enough to look like a rock star (like Ajikan's Gotoh?). I loved watching the making of this when they had to make Fumiya run for his life so he could make it to the next turntable before the singer/cameras did. I wish they wore more suits. They do it at some music award shows but just not enough.
Now to finish off, a letter to Fumiya that will never be sent:
Dear Fumiya,
You're a great DJ, write some more songs.
Don't dump Halcali, they're really cool.
But if you dump your wife, we'll be kinda happy.
Come back to Rip Slyme, you're needed there.
And Pes can't write all the songs,
he's a big perv.

Happy 27th Birthday Fumiya! May your days be merry, and stuff like that! And don't be too shy! You're full of sex appeal!
P.S. If you're short on cash - I'd be willing to buy a jacket of yours for an amazing amount of cash.

Stepper's Delight Nike Commercial
The song was remixed by Tricky & features some nice soccer.
By the way, I've updated the Rip Slyme wiki.theppn.org page a bit and I've added some character profiles. Fumiya & Su are still coming soon.
Nonetheless all this reading up of these guys is making me love them more XD
Teriyaki Boyz DVD release date pushed back
You Copy? I Copy! - Orange Range Pakuri madness
Orange Range are quite a wonder story. With a career of only 3 years, they've sweeped Japan with a multitude of singles and awards. But there are some questions that have been left unanswered and some discoveries that have been unable to be heard. Why is it that these children, are able to release such songs that require certain amounts of music sophistication in such short time? I'd like to consider all points of this group. They are signed under the Spice Label by Sony, they've had several anime & movie tie ins. They are a marketing dream. How easy it is to make these group of teens appeal to the everyday girl. You can't say that these guys got where they were on skill alone, they started major. Their drummer, Katchan has left since last year due to "artistic differences". I may note that he was the founding member as well. How strange it is that a founding members leaves the group he created. He probably wisened up I bet and left before the truck went crashing.
I was quite interested with Orange Range, their Locolotion seemed like such a cute song and Shanghai Honey's PV made me laugh. The fact that Orange Range's songs jumped from hard wannabe rap to soft ballads made me file them in the "download sometimes" folder. But thinking back now, their PV really had a lot of effect on me. The concept of bikini clad girls dancing around and sometimes with little simple moves attracted me. And it seemed very sexist, but as I was fascinated, the girls didn't mind. It meant the guys liked having fun as they performed in a crowd of millions of ladies. By objectifying women, by making them wear skimpy clothing for their PVs and covers, they were making them feel important. Girls really thought "wow. these guys really seem to like us."
Now this Pakuri, the concept of "music stealing" has been noted by some Orange RAnge fans as just rival fans getting jealous over the success. After all by saying that a riff was stolen is opening a whole can of worms - many songs borrow other music. But what many of the investigators have realised is that Orange Range is quite smart as well. They take the guitar tune of one popular jpop song, mix it with their own half assed drumming or guitar (adding their Orange Range feel to it) and making some lines about what they happened to be thinking about that day. As I sat down one day, I realised that Orange Range has a Rip Slyme concept in a way: A high voice, a middle and a low. The Low voice guy with the dreads (I never cared for memorizing names) had a voice very much like Su's - though I am firmly believing that Su could beat him down with only a finger. But it's interesting. They are using elements of current groups and copying it on themselves. Think how Bump of Chicken is highly popular even today. Now think how Orange Range really does play with the concept.
But I'm not talking about the actual music being stolen. Now imagine my surprise that Locolotion did steal the hell out of Locomotion (that Kylie Minogue song) and Shanghai Honey even used *gasp* the Spice Girls' Wannabe. There is a website out there that confirms the use of one Mr Children song in one of the OR songs by comparing the musical structure, I cant seem to find it right now. Their ever popular song "Hana" is really just a big ripoff of half of the Mr Children songs. Orange Range is using every artist and making their formula with it. I was quite horrified to find that the guitar twangs of my favouriter FUNKASTIC was put into their "Samurai Mania" song.
While some artists go crazy thinking up of new material, Orange Range are taking old/popular material and jumbling it up. They add a dash of marketing and boom - instant hit.
Though some fans fight back. Orange Range could be innovating music and as well paying homage to their favourite artists. But when is the game too far? I think the line has been crossed without hesitation.
In short - Orange Range is a Sony Marketing Genius.
As an interesting Side Note, when Rip Slyme were performing on Music Station in promotion of their Good Job! album, Orange Range were on the list of performers as well. Though I haven't got the performance (I would love to see it), I'd suspect that I'd hate to hear if the Orange Range guys liked Rip Slyme. That just means another artist they like to rip off. Orange Range tends to leave a sour taste in the mouth of some music fans.

O.T.F. - Fumiya, Ryo-Z and? The guys having their slice of the business.
I hate manhandling my Good Job booklet. To me it's gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing. Plus it's nice to see someone actually credit the original artist as inspiration instead of trying to claim it as your own. Nonetheless I made a discovery as I looked at the credits for my favourite song off the album "More & More"

Now if O.T.F. are now Rip Slyme, what does it mean? I have no idea. But I suppose this could signal more Rip Slyme activity to help make up for their half dead 2004 period. But then their limited release live album was titled "O.T.F. at Budokan." (even when Ryo-Z says the sound was terrible there, they release an album from it) Maybe the mark of More & More being rapped by "the O.T.F. crew" it could mean some change. Management perhaps?
Could this mean that Halcali will be receiving more help from not just Fumiya & Ryo-Z? I think this is too unlikely but the possibility is there. I mean Fumiya's still half dead, so Pes could help head the music making with maybe some help from Su & Ilmari. While Ryo-Z can continue writing lyrics for Halcali while again Ilmari & Su could act as all rounders. It's an appealing thought for Rip Slyme fans but there's not enough for it.
Now I was looking at the song More & More, it's a lovely thing. It's a pity it never became a single but I bet there was the suggestion. The idea was probably rejected since the group, as a group should be, preferred to wait till Fumiya came back. Or that's what I assumed. When Fumiya went to the hospital, leaving the Rip Slyme boat one man short, Pes picked up the job. Having written the great song "One" - the result this time was vastly different. Sure people expected either a deep hiphop beat, the kind that would possibly fit his image. But More & More creates a mixture of great drumbeats and a catchy guitar loop. If only this got a music video or something. It'd be definitely a song to remember.

20 Screenshots on "Because Ilmari is smoking hot and can sell anything"

It's because Ilmari oozes with style. He is the leader of Teriyaki Boyz and if he could do something gimmicky (eg. sell 50,000 CDs in 5 days) then he would sell it's ass off. Now let's dive right in why this lovely half finnish boy is what haunts girls at night. So here's 20 screenshots to illustrate my point - with a suggestion on what sort of commercial he could sell millions of.
Ilmari was discussed by his family as a very girlish looking kid as a child. Ilmari didn't suffer the possibility of the ugly effects of puberty. He got wise - rugged and got the handsome looks of his dad (there's a photo of the dad young who looks exactly like Ilmari). Stepper's Delight was the first major release for Rip Slyme. The PV is gorgeous and I reckon it was a great idea to allow Halcali do a spinoff on it. (hell I'd even write up a comparison between the two one day.) Rip Slyme PVs tend to have a similiar style in their earlier days. And it's the sense of allowing each character's individuality shine through. Oh yeah - Ilmari. Everyone sports the Rip Slyme jumpsuit - Ilmari fills it out quite nicely. Have I mentioned that Pes is tremendously short in this PV in comparison to his later years? Ilmari attracted the fangirls of MTV with his distinct European looks - and believe me when I say that half of Japan's music buying youth have some sort of voice in the back of their head saying "MTV KNOWS ALL. IF THEY RECOMMEND MUSIC - YOU BUY".
Now let's round up on the things Ilmari can sell: table tennis gear, sports drinks, convenience stores, gangster leadership, paint, tourism/Hawaii, cowboy products, guitars, glasses, national celebrations, mcdonalds, movies, children toys, and formalwear.
I think I've made my point.

I had no freaking idea.
However there were 5000 singles of Hot Chocolate that went quietly when bought from Meiji's new cafe establishment: The 100% Chocolate Cafe. A 7 inch CD made entirely of chocolate was given as a gift along with the single. As well on the sleeve of this "CD" was a serial number that made each chocolate piece individual. The campaign even included Pes & Su having a snack there as well. (Iyaaan Pes. So cute XD)
Nonetheless some blogs have posted with their loot (I thought this had happened a while ago so why did they all get it so late?) Anyhow this campaign could be compared to the UNIQLO (A clothes brand) campaign long ago that had lines stretching for blocks XD.

The 2005 Rip Slyme
It's quite sad really, Rip Slyme is such a quiet group. They avoid being tabloid fodder - only reporting things such as marriages. Fumiya's marriage broke some hearts after all. But in a way it's a pain to find Rip Slyme news apart from their official things. They lead such private lives, Su's probably living the married life and Fumiya must be looking at some nice family houses (you know what I mean!). These guys may be associated with huge names - but it almost seems like just a professional thing. They don't go to parties, they don't do all that much. And for that I hate them and love them at the same time.
2005 was the quietest year for Rip Slyme. Finishing up their 2004 Masterpiece Tour, they were last heard being chosen for their single "Stepper's Delight" to be featured on an Asia Nike commercial (something Japanese artists apparently rarely get to do).
They came back to the new year announcing that they weren't complete bastards and were releasing a 2 disc DVD set - with a cover designed by some guy Geoff McFetridge - apparently he does lots of things but who really cares? They even released a little phone strap with the DVD for all the fans - something that is selling on yahoo auctions right now too.
And everyone was waiting for a new single. Like what a better way to celebrate a DVD release with a new single? Well the guys instead went to an assortment of music shows, their yearly trip to the MTV Music Awards Japan & the Space Shower Music Awards. And then the guys were chosen to be featured in a commercial for "Tekken 5" no doubt something that made many fans excited.
Next was another commercial thing, their song "Super Shooter" - popular from it's days as the opening tune for anime Gantz - was chosen for the Kirin Cup Soccer "Image Song". Ahaha - Super Shooter. Get it?
The rest was just too painful to mention. They started doing their rounds for popular concerts - such as Rock in Japan Festival, Summer Sonic and the sorts. And they did announce a release finally. But it was a Best of Album. Okay - fair's fair. They've been in the Warner business for five years. But people wanted new music.
Sadly bad news hit the group Fumiya got sick. Now let's pull it back together. Halcali's Twinkle Star was finished in September. In a possibly wild guess. Fumiya got hospitalised -badly- and he
kept his promise. You gotta love a man like that. Pity no girl will ever have him any more. After all, Fumiya is known to be a little sickly. However juggling his OTF commitments, "Best of" Album work and the tours - he just... keeled over. So Fumiya's out of the game for now. DJ Soma steps in - the apparent childhood friend.
Nigo recruits Ilmari & Ryo-Z for Teriyaki Boyz - the news perks interest. But it as well spells no new singles for Rip Slyme. School of Lock! gets Rip Slyme to fill in the Monday spot - rejoicement for most people as that means more Rip Slyme love. Fumiya is still dead- er... I mean sick.
Teriyaki Boyz was the main topic for now - which is kind of sad since Pes & Su are pushed aside. However Su is probably living his happy married life while Pes seeks for work such as the clothes label Optimystik.
What's that? A Christmas reissue of the best of album? Ludicrous! It's near the end of the year and nothing is made! And to make up for it is an MTV VIP Concert. Not really. It makes up for nothing! Thanks a lot bastards!
And Hot Chocolate came. Cheesy title really. AND a Mash Up Project with Hotei?
Blablabla. Thus ends the 2005 Rip Slyme. But there's no scandals, no excitement life writings. Nothing.
And you know what made Rip Slyme fans sad.
Frustrations.
I have another entry coming up because on that very day I wanted to write something ;o;. However in my boredom, I took it upon myself to make a Rip Slyme page at the Wiki.theppn.org.
And Rip Slyme's Radio spot on School of Lock! recently is accepting demo tapes of amateur artists to play. Isn't that sweet of them? They had been receiving letters from many saying that they dreamed of being a musician but no one really believes them. Ryo-Z says that Halcali were quite like that as well.
Planet of the Bapes [Youtube surfing - it's addictive]
Bape Sounds Allsta!!! - Planet of the Bapes is a video that is probably made most likely to promote the album that had been earlier released, Nigo Presents (B)ape Sounds and was the key end song to the album? Why? Not only does it feature every artist under the label, it as well isagain produced by the super duo Neptunes. The following artists featured on are: Ytr*, Ignitionman, Pocyomkin, Yoshi, Boy-Ken. Hi-D, Keyco, Ani, Cq, Wise, Ilmari, Verbal, Ryo-Z, Dj Kaori, Gore-Tex. I had no idea of these artists but a quick google filled me in that more than half of these guys are one of the biggest names in music. DJ Kaori, for example struck me as a strange voice who doesn't seem to sing or rap however she is pretty much a DJ - apart from having DJed for people such as Mike Tyson and many celebrities of US.
These are the people who have hit it big - the ones who write or play in the background and have risen above the facade of variety shows and the oricon charts. In the end - these guys have seen the whole game from above - like a chessboard. While Rip Slyme are playing in the pop fields - having fun, these guys are standing right where they are, hip hop maybe? It seems that being on the Bape label can win you the help of big hip hop names.
Now enough of these people and back onto the song. What is so mesmerising about this tune? It's got so much life into that simple loop on repeat and the drum beat. I realised and thought what a smart bastard Nigo pretty much was. That Chou Large song that was on the Beef or Chicken album was a regular tune that was made through the old Pharrel machine. But Planet of the Bapes is one that obviously was given time and money to. This is the song that should have been on the Teriyaki Boyz album. This is what showed that Japanese rap & hiphop has progressed much from the East End's "Da Yo Ne".
The song asks each artist to be individual. YTR starts with a simple line, rougly about becoming a monkey and dancing. It sounds ridiculous but he adds ina melodic element to it - something I believed that the Teriyaki Boyz' album seemed to lack a song like that. While they were all fun - it'd be nice for them to try it out. Ilmari & Ryo-Z are perfectly capable, Verbal could manage and Wise has shown to be a somewhat able singer. However apart from asking from a play on melody - something that might seem petty since these talented rappers are able to do more than just that. This song accentuates the delivery of each artist. It has such a distinct beat that allows the rapper to keep in time but as well add their own style & rhythm. This song is perfect in showcasing the talents of each artist. And it's not even a very hardcore hiphop song or anything. It's got a very catchy pop feel to it. And isn't that what the Teriyaki Boyz had wanted to create? A pop accentuated style? This is definitely the Neptunes song I'd rather have on the Teriyaki Boyz album. I think apart from pulling in overseas big names to produce this music, they should have allowed local names to have their go at it. Yes this is me still lamenting over the disappearance of Fumiya. But he would have rocked that album like no other - and it would have been an exciting thought to see them meet and create something. You either love or hate these Teriyaki Boyz. Though I think it's mainly because of the big names that come into it that overshadow it. The album just sounds like it wants to sell purely because of that. But one review mentions, that the album is just a bunch of big names having fun - but at least you're included in on it.
I am tempted to preorder that Teriyaki Boyz DVD now - no matter how much I feel that I don't love them enough. I mean I love each MC dearly and I am quite interested in the way the Tour works in contrast to the Rip Slyme ones (who would just fool around half the time).
Apart from that, I remember distinctly that there was a Music Station performance of Rip Slyme's Joint on Youtube but seems to have been removed. I am broken and now would like anyone who has it to stand up! (or something like that)

Backstage Pass March 2006 - Summary Part 1
Just to bring you guys up to date a bit, Fumiya's got a break since he's been pretty sickly for a long time (or as many suspect - a secret reason). This is the third Pes composed single to date (the past two being One & Tasogare Surround [shaddup! I liked it!]). The 2nd song "Slowdown" is written by Su. And the 3rd is the Toyota mashup song "Battle Funkastic"
Here's a little summary of the interview article from before. My japanese isn't too great so leave me alone! XD
The page before the interview (the one with the guys "gazing")
What is the sweet & bitter thing?
Bitter chocolate, a cup of coffee, "Kakutere"(?), a little special medicine,
That's love, probably?
With DJ Fumiya right now on break, after a year and 3 months, the release of their new song "Hot Chocolate" is
sweet and erotic (demo doko horo(?)) their sweet styled love song.
An interview with the 4 MC PES & SU & RYO-Z & ILMARI and
a fully loaded personal interview of "Sweeet" experiences & "Bitter!" episodes,
The Rip Slyme of "now" press on!
- Working on the song originally started on September * , but because A wasn't here or B wasn't here, 3 months passed too quickly. But everyone seemed to meet at the studio and all they did was say "Let'd do it, let's do it!". Then afterwards they'd say "Let's do it tomorrow then" but then it'd always be like "Ah... tomorrow's no good.", "Let's do it later" or "We'll keep in touch"
- Pes "Because Fumiya's not around, whatever I do I feel like it's a job I have to do with all my might."
- Ryo-z claims he had no idea that the song had Reggae influences
- The overall theme for the song seemed to be a very "masculine" song. They really wanted to have the word "Hot" in the title.
- Ilmari says Pes is dirty XD
*note that September is the date of Halcali's Twinkle Star's completion. If Fumiya was fit enough to do Halcali's single then why not help out with Rip Slyme - at least the performances? I mean I did suspect this when I heard of Halcali's single but it seems a bit odd that's he's absent only from Rip Slyme. I will definitely die if Fumiya leaves Rip Slyme - but that's just to extreme and destroy Rip Slyme altogether. The only thing I can take it as is that Fumiya is confident of Rip Slyme enough to let them do their stuff. While Halcali has definitely changed since their first starting and he's pulling the girls back and re educating them.
Please let that be true ;o;.
New Rotating Download! Mata Au Hi Made Shortcuts DVD Rip
Mata Au Hi Made ~chronicle mix~ (309MB) from the Shortcuts! DVD (buy from amazon or hmv)
I kept the file in vob quality (direct DVD) and I think you can see why - this video is awesome. It's a collection of all past performances of Mata Au Hi Made and merged into one fluid live. This song never got a video because it came before the Warner signing (though they did reissue it I believe). This is probably a favourite of many after all. But I just love Pes going nuts at his part. I mean it gives it such a great depth (and might change your total opinion of him? XD) to the performance. I was thinking of compressing it (which I totally suck at by the way) but I couldn't bear to do it. If you've never handled vob files before, grab the VLC media player - it should do the job.
Mamiya Kyoudai Single out on 4/26
It's unfortunately not just Rip Slyme only single. Their song is only the 4th one on the single titled "Hey, Brother" (I noticed this name in some blogs but thought it was speculation since I hadn't finished reading the news articles.)
The single itself is titled "VARIOUS /Mamiya Kyoudai / Hey Brother feat. RIP SLYME"
Still nothing much on the progress of the music.
And in lighter news, some blogs are very much expecting Fumiya to attend the Dance Floor Massive II tour. Hopefully this might just be true.

Celebrity Death Match Live Download & Comments
I watched this live several times, excited that there's finally something new Rip Slyme orientated. I'm a little disappointed - maybe because I've found to expect quite a lot from Rip Slyme lives. But this isn't Rip Slyme - it's those Teriyaki Boyz. And in all, Nigo did in a way create a Rip Slyme formula for them. But the Rip Slyme formula doesn't work in a way since they don't have the chemistry and stage presence of Rip Slyme together.
It's a great live - cleanly cut and fun to watch. But not awesome. But I'll try to deconstruct it *lightly*
Wise is first. I actually quite like this guy, his voice is pleasant to listen to and his delivery is both confident and fluid. As well he seems like a Ryo-Z kind of guy for some reason. He seems to be the most confident in this live. I love those little punching movements he gives to the start of the live - it pretty much pumps the watcher/crowd to excitement. He's pretty much Nigo's bitch in a way of speaking but he's talented and fits into the song the best. I think he has a CD or something out (which I would love to hear some time) but if you google mc wise, it's not quite ready to give you the right results. But this guy gets points up in my book. (edit. Shouldn'tve spoken so soon. Wise has a blog which as well has his album with SONPUB. Definitely interesting.)
Ilmari... Oh I don't know. He's just so DEAD. (anyone for my POT SMOKING THEORY?) Well he was definitely more in it when it came to the Music Station performances for Hot Chocolate & Battle Funkastic. But this is a bit of a disappointment. I know Ilmari's meant to be the "cool" laid back mellow guy. But I don't think it's just that. He almost looks like he doesn't really feel in the beat. He looks a little tired from the whole touring. He keeps his eyes almost half closed. I dunno - if you compare his performance here with the ones he did in the lives, his personality shines more in the others. Maybe he's not comfortable in new surroundings? I prefer this guy in Rip Slyme material - mainly because I like him with the other guys rather than just HIM SOLO alone. Nontheless he's the only guy who can still look cool yet delicious in wearing a cap the right way round.
Verbal! He's a little tense in this. I mean his lives are very laid back and he raps in his fluid style. But he almost seems like he's rushing and not really focusing a bit. Maybe he's better with DJ Taku? He's still alright in this performance. I mean he's still got charisma, though it seems to pale a bit in comparison to the enthusiasm of Wise & Ryo-Z.
So Ryo-Z comes in and shows everyone how it's done. I love watching and listening to Ryo-Z's performances. Though it's even in this one he seems a bit disconnected than usual. It's not his rapping - that's superb like always. But in Rip Slyme performances (sorry to bring the old thing out again) he's always the most energetic. I mean he really gives this great 100% attitude in Rip Slyme and he doesn't really look like he's having a lot of fun. But he seems sort of pretty much like he's rehearsed it so much he doesn't care. I loved Ryo-Z when he was messing around. But Ryo-Z in glasses? I hope this is a thing he keeps XD (SHADDUP I LIKE THAT.)
And Fumiya honey we miss you and want you to come home.
Rip Slyme to be on Rhymester album "Heat Island"
18. Weekend Shuffle - featuring MCU, RYO-Z, KREVA, CUEZERO, CHANNEL, KOHEI JAPAN, SU, LITTLE, ILMARI, GAKU-MC, SONOMI, PES, K.I.N, Dohzi-T
It seems Rhymester has had ties with Rip Slyme for quite a while. Though it is nice to see Rip Slyme in other works (though sadly still Fumiya-less)
I have noticed the link to the torrent I had posted is now gone. I have no idea what has happened but I downloaded the torrent right before it was removed. I'm just downloading it slowly right now and will upload it as soon as it finishes!

Teriyaki Boyz - Icchou Tour preview!
I believe this is an Adrock (of Beastie Boys fame) song. I'm one of those who like most of the tracks and Heartbreaker is strangely addictive for me. The torrent hasn't been approved as of yet but should be soon. And I should reccomend some of the tunes. I hated the album when I heard it at first. But I love the delivery of all the four MCs and their style, I can't stop thinking to songs like The Takeover (which totally deserves a PV more than the rest :\)
Nonetheless enjoy for now!

Backstage Pass March 2006 - Now with hugeass scans
B=Pass explains the song as "Sweet and Erotic" and interviews the boys about each song and an individual interview about their past "Sweet" or "Bitter" experiences. It seems that Ilmari & Ryo-Z have finished up their Teriyaki Boyz duties (Ilmari talks a bit about going to France with Nigo though Nigo & Ilmari are a little linked before. However I do remember specifically that Nigo was planning to release Teriyaki Boyz in France)
I would love to translate the whole thing if I could but I can only grab garbled bits so anyone is free to translate this for the community XD. I'd try to give point "summaries" for this interview in a different post.
If you remember, the front page is here. (5.5MB). The next pages are about 2-3 MB in size each (some sort of small song almost). I've tried to compress it as much as I can but honestly, it pains me so this is the extent I could do. Now I may add that these were originally 25 MB pages each so I guess I've gotten as much as I could out of it.
The whole rar archive of scans(50.6MB) . zip files dont seem to zip well on my computer so I had to use rar.
The contents page with a small photo of Rip Slyme (1MB)
Ilmari eating Haribo Gummy Bears! (3.6MB) Each face is huge for the page - so you see right to every detail. Ilmari's skin (and teeth - but Dental is expensive anyway) is actually pretty awful in a sense. He's no Johnny's boy I admit but his pores are huge XD. Nonetheless he's still awesome! <3
PES!!! (and some Lays) (4.1MB) I love this picture~~~ (and some pretty classy eyewear) I've become a strange Pes fan lately so this is awesome enough XD (Well his skin is less blotchy than Ilmari's but it's not the clearest~
Su and doritos (3MB) I always thought that it was a mistake for them to not have makeup for this shoot. I guess in a way it lets them stay "real." XD
RYO-Z and a meringue pie! (3.3MB) It looks tasty :D
Page 1 (2.8MB) & Page 2 (2.1MB) of the guys looking a little far off~
The four guys again~ (2.8MB)
The page purely of interviews (590K) I tried to compress the hell out of it but I guess so~
Page 2 of interview (2.9MB) Ryo-Z has such pretty lashes~! XD
Page 3 (3MB) Ilmari looks a little tired~
The Ilmari interview (3.3MB) Ilmari talks of a girl in Hawaii he liked as a kid among other things. (Bet she must be tearing herself up now XD)
The Pes interview (3MB) Some Hot Chocolate talk and whatnot. He says he's been to Italy :O The picture makes me want to hug him~!
The Su interview (3.3MB) He calls Ilmari & Ryo-Z's group "Yakiniku Boys" XD More Rip Slyme oriented questions.
The Ryo-Z interview (3.2MB) They seem to direct a bit of song related questions to him. Ryo-Z says in some fanletters from guys, he's only liked fifth XD Awww I love you Ryo-Z ;o;
The right page(2.7MB) and The left page(3.2MB) of the last couple of shots of the guys. There's a free Rip Slyme pinup campaign that was going around. Bastards. And the only poster in the mag is of K & Yui. I mean they're the cover guys - why cant they have the poster spot too!? ;o;
The Present Campaign (1.2MB) - One of those "answer a questions and you could get this!" things. They have autographed photos (like every music mag) ;o;
Behind the scenes shots(1.5MB)
All done! I got some more mags on order coming soon~ <3
