Celebrity Death Match Live Download & Comments
I watched this live several times, excited that there's finally something new Rip Slyme orientated. I'm a little disappointed - maybe because I've found to expect quite a lot from Rip Slyme lives. But this isn't Rip Slyme - it's those Teriyaki Boyz. And in all, Nigo did in a way create a Rip Slyme formula for them. But the Rip Slyme formula doesn't work in a way since they don't have the chemistry and stage presence of Rip Slyme together.
It's a great live - cleanly cut and fun to watch. But not awesome. But I'll try to deconstruct it *lightly*
Wise is first. I actually quite like this guy, his voice is pleasant to listen to and his delivery is both confident and fluid. As well he seems like a Ryo-Z kind of guy for some reason. He seems to be the most confident in this live. I love those little punching movements he gives to the start of the live - it pretty much pumps the watcher/crowd to excitement. He's pretty much Nigo's bitch in a way of speaking but he's talented and fits into the song the best. I think he has a CD or something out (which I would love to hear some time) but if you google mc wise, it's not quite ready to give you the right results. But this guy gets points up in my book. (edit. Shouldn'tve spoken so soon. Wise has a blog which as well has his album with SONPUB. Definitely interesting.)
Ilmari... Oh I don't know. He's just so DEAD. (anyone for my POT SMOKING THEORY?) Well he was definitely more in it when it came to the Music Station performances for Hot Chocolate & Battle Funkastic. But this is a bit of a disappointment. I know Ilmari's meant to be the "cool" laid back mellow guy. But I don't think it's just that. He almost looks like he doesn't really feel in the beat. He looks a little tired from the whole touring. He keeps his eyes almost half closed. I dunno - if you compare his performance here with the ones he did in the lives, his personality shines more in the others. Maybe he's not comfortable in new surroundings? I prefer this guy in Rip Slyme material - mainly because I like him with the other guys rather than just HIM SOLO alone. Nontheless he's the only guy who can still look cool yet delicious in wearing a cap the right way round.
Verbal! He's a little tense in this. I mean his lives are very laid back and he raps in his fluid style. But he almost seems like he's rushing and not really focusing a bit. Maybe he's better with DJ Taku? He's still alright in this performance. I mean he's still got charisma, though it seems to pale a bit in comparison to the enthusiasm of Wise & Ryo-Z.
So Ryo-Z comes in and shows everyone how it's done. I love watching and listening to Ryo-Z's performances. Though it's even in this one he seems a bit disconnected than usual. It's not his rapping - that's superb like always. But in Rip Slyme performances (sorry to bring the old thing out again) he's always the most energetic. I mean he really gives this great 100% attitude in Rip Slyme and he doesn't really look like he's having a lot of fun. But he seems sort of pretty much like he's rehearsed it so much he doesn't care. I loved Ryo-Z when he was messing around. But Ryo-Z in glasses? I hope this is a thing he keeps XD (SHADDUP I LIKE THAT.)
And Fumiya honey we miss you and want you to come home.
